Scheggino and Valnerina
Scheggino is a typical village situated in the heart of Valnerina with few inhabitants. It is surrounded by the limpid water of Nera river. The castle, located on a rock, and the small St. Nicola’s Chapel remind the ancient origin of the village which goes back to the XI century.
Scheggino is almostly famous both because of its importantproduction of truffle and of the fishing of fario trout and crayfishes, a very local business. Truffle has been perfectly fused with the river fishes, creating a particular gastronomy culture which is different from any other village of the same region.
